The Battleground of Independence
This past Sunday was extra special for at least 6, OK 7, of the members of the congregation. These 7 people were the 6 students of the mentoring for ministry class, which I am so honored to be a part of, and their teacher Mark Vaillancourt. Mark just so happened to be the guest preacher for this week’s sermon.
How appropriate that Mark was able to speak about the Battleground of Independence. We learned as Armor Bearers we should definitely walk in agreement and submission to our leader, as told to us in I Samuel 14:7,12.
We also learned that Armor Bearers should take ownership of our leader’s vision. It is simply amazing that Mark taught us this because I know for a fact that he, along with all of us have taken ownership of our Lead Pastor’s, Ken Hitte, vision. In addition, since Mark is our teacher, I am hopefully speaking for the whole class, that we can see the vision Mark has for us and we all embrace it and we have taken ownership of it.
The next 2 things we learned may seem a little odd to some people, but to me, it all makes sense. As Armor Bearers, we should support our leader even when he makes mistakes, as it is told to us from I Samuel 22 and also that Armor bearers do not abandon their leader in the middle of battle as we learn about in I Samuel 31:4-6. Nobody is perfect and we all make mistakes, even our leaders. And, we are all battling the enemy especially when we are working on that personal relationship with God that each and every one of us should be working on daily.
Mark I am so proud of you, what a wonderful job you did and I know, without questioning, that you were able to touch many hearts last Sunday. Keep up the great work and I look forward to the next time I can hear you preaching, even though I do get to hear your amazing insights and illuminations along with your unparalleled passion for the Word of God.
