To Those of You Born

1930 – 1983

At the end of this email is a quote of the month by Jay Leno.

If you don’t read anything else, please

read what he said.

Very well stated, Mr. Leno.

TO ALL THE KIDS WHO SURVIVED THE

1930’s, 40’s, 50’s, 60’s and 70’s!!

First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they were pregnant.

They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can and didn’t get tested for diabetes.

Then after that trauma, we were put to sleep on our tummies in baby cribs covered with bright colored lead-base paints.

We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, locks on doors or cabinets and when we rode our bikes, we had baseball caps not helmets on our heads.

As infants & children, we would ride in cars with no car seats, no booster seats, no seat belts, no air bags, bald tires and sometimes no brakes.

Riding in the back of a pick- up truck on a warm day was always a special treat.

We drank water from the garden hose and not from a bottle.

We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and no one actually died from this.

We ate cupcakes, white bread, real butter and bacon. We drank Kool-Aid made with real white sugar. And, we weren’t overweight. WHY?

Because we were always outside playing…that’s why!

We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights came on.

No one was able to reach us all day. And, we were O.K.

We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then ride them down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes. After running into the bushes a few times,we learned to solve the problem.

We did not have Playstations, Nintendo’s and X-boxes. There were no video games, no 150 channels on cable, no video movies or DVD’s, no surround-sound or CD’s, no cell phones, no personal computers, no Internet and no chat rooms.
WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them!

We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no lawsuits from these accidents.

We ate worms and mud pies made from dirt, and the worms did not live in us forever.

We were given BB guns for our 10th birthdays, made up games with sticks and tennis balls and, although we were told it would happen, we did not put out very many eyes.

We rode bikes or walked to a friend’s house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just walked in and talked to them.

Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team.. Those who didn’t had to learn to deal with disappointment.

Imagine that!!

The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of. They actually sided with the law!

These generations have produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers and inventors ever.

The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas.

We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned how to deal with it all.

If YOU are one of them? CONGRATULATIONS!

You might want to share this with others who have had the luck to grow up as kids, before the lawyers and the government regulated so much of our lives for our own good.

While you are at it, forward it to your kids so they will know how brave and lucky their parents were.

Kind of makes you want to run through the house with scissors, doesn’t it ?

~

The quote of the month is by Jay Leno:

‘With hurricanes, tornados, fires out of control, mud slides, flooding, severe thunderstorms tearing up the country from one end to another, and with the threat of bird flu and terrorist attacks, are we sure this is a good time to take God out of the Pledge of Allegiance?’

For those that prefer to think that God is not watching over us…go ahead and forget this.
For the rest of us…pass this on.

Compliments of the Nooner, thanks for a walk down memory lane…

We are in the holiest weekend of the Christian calendar.  Take the time to think about what Resurrection weekend means to you.

As you see above, I did not call this “Easter Weekend”, anyone who knows, that the real meaning behind this weekend is not the “Easter bunny”.  It is not about “Easter eggs” (silly people actually think eggs come from rabbits?).  It is not about “baskets” or “chocolate”.

Friday night, I watched the movie Passion of the Christ for the 2nd time.  This time had a new meaning.  If you have not seen it, I will not spoil the ending.  (If you do not know the ending, even without seeing the movie, please visit your local church or better yet come to DiscoverLife Church.tv and someone there will be glad to illuminate you.)

Friday night I was able to search what I needed to receive.  God was able to show me that I have been at one time or another; a Judas - I have betrayed God at one time in my life, a Peter - I have, in times in my life, said that I knew Jesus, but when the time came to acknowledge it, I denied it.

To God be ALL of the Glory, I am free.  I now recognize that no money in the world will ever allow me betray God.  I also recognize that Jesus is my Savior and if anyone asks, I will tell them boldly YES, on top of that, I will continue to show, those who do not ask, the LOVE that Jesus has for us, and is inside each of us.

Do these descriptions of myself speak to things you have done?  Were you ever a Judas?  Were you ever no better than Peter?  Where are you now?

If you are still struggling, I have a little secret, I still have to work on my walk daily.  I am not the example you need to look up to, the ONLY example we need to look at is the example that Jesus set for us over 2000 years ago.

Let’s join together, in one accord, life up Jesus, and finally give Him the Glory He deserves.

Be BOLD and proud of our faith in the one who suffered and died for ALL of us.

What time is it?

What time is it?

It is time for everyone to get serious about God.

My heart has been hurting for those people that are not taking God’s Word seriously.

If I may, please allow me to share what is on my mind about these people.

Answer the following questions and then go back and put someone you know in your place and see if you can answer those questions for them…

What if?

  • What if Jesus was to return to earth 5 minutes from now, did you do everything you can do to insure you will be rising up to meet Him in the clouds?
  •           Or will you be wondering; “Where did everyone go?” and wishing you did things a little differently.
  • What if you were standing face to face with God, will you hear those amazing words; “Great job my faithful servant!”?
  •           Or will you be standing face to face with God and being ashamed that you did not give 100%.
  • What if you were presented with an opportunity to bless someone, will you have to think about it?
  •           Or will you trust in God to hold to His promise that you will reap MORE than you sow.
  • What if God gave you they opportunity to be wealthy behold all imagination, but your eternity was not guaranteed would you accept?
  •           Or the other option was a life of serving Him and others but just barely getting by, until the day when He returns when you are guaranteed a place with Him in heaven.
  • What if you were asked to invite others to know the things you know about God, will you extend the invitation?
  •           Or will you do what most people do, will you just let someone else do it?

It is time, it is way over due for the “Christian” people to stop being so darn selfish.  God is not a secret.  The opportunity to get to know God does not require any special password or expensive ticket to reserve a seat.  We, believers, need to step up and be BOLD about our faith.  We also need to take every opportunity we have to share God with others and just run with it.

I have heard too many excuses why ”Christians” do not either share God with others, or those who do not have that a personal relationship with Jesus Christ do not make an effort to get to know Him.  Here are a few, feel free to add a few, maybe those people who use those excuses will be able to learn from this.

  1. I am too busy – too busy for God – Does God ever say He is too busy for us?
  2. I am not comfortable with it – Step out – Part of Faith is stepping out of your comfort zone.
  3. I do not know how – Get over it – If you can invite people over to watch a football game (or soccer for you other people), you can invite them to church.
  4. Nobody invited me - you are wrong – someone sowed a seed sometime in your life and God did the rest.
  5. I go to church – really where and how often? – If you say you are going to church, yet are lying, you are not lying to me, you are lying to yourself and God, if you do go to church, to God be ALL of the Glory…
  6. I do not need to go to a church – OK, you do not have to be IN church to pray – Luke 4:16 tells us that Jesus went to church regularly, we need to be like Jesus…
  7. I am too old – real simple- Pastor David Gant – I hope that when I am his age I have half of his energy – If you do not know Pastor Gant, come to visit our church, I will introduce him to you…  www.discoverlifechurch.tv
  8. I am too young, or I have not been a “Christian” very long. -  What a better opportunity- invite the people you hang around now to come experience God.  If you saw a good movie, or for the women a real tear jerker, I bet before you got home from the movies you would have called or texted at least 3 friends to go see it – When is the last time you left church and called just 1 person to come experience God.

I can go on and on, but I am saving some good ones for those who are reading and replying…

What time is it?  It is time for us ALL to step up for God…  Will you?

Praise God!!!

Just when you said you have seen it all, check out this video.  I cried like a baby.  I hope it touches you also…

Remember these words:

The Sky’s the limit…

Give all of the effort that you can to catch a dream…

Never give up…

   The Wisdom in Hot Chocolate

A group of graduates,

well established in their careers,

were discussing their lives at a class reunion.

They decided to go visit their old university professor,

now retired, who was always an inspiration to them.

picture19

During their visit, the conversation turned to complaints about stress in their work, lives and relationships.

picture21

 Offering his guests hot chocolate,

the professor went into the kitchen and returned with

a large pot of hot chocolate and an assortment of cups.

Some cups were porcelain, glass, crystal, some plain looking,

some expensive, some exquisite.

He invited each to help themselves to the hot chocolate.

picture3

When they all had a cup of hot chocolate in hand, the professor shared his thoughts.

picture4

”Notice that all the nice looking, expensive cups were taken,

leaving behind the plain and cheap ones.”

picture5

”While it is normal for you to want only the best for yourselves,

that is the source of your problems and stress.”

picture6

”The cup that you are drinking from adds nothing to the quality of the hot chocolate.

In most cases it is just more expensive and in some cases even hides what we drink.”

picture7

”What each of you really wanted was hot chocolate.

You did not want the cup . . . but you consciously went for the best cups.”

picture81

”And soon, you began to eye one another’s cups.”

picture9

”Now friends, please consider this . . .

picture10

”Life is the hot chocolate . . . your job, money and position in society are the cups.”

picture111

”They are just tools to hold and contain life.”

picture12

”The cup you have does not define, nor does it change, the quality of life you are living.”

picture13

”Sometimes, by concentrating only on the cup,

we fail to enjoy the hot chocolate God has provided us.”

picture14

  Always remember this . . . . . . . . . . God brews the hot chocolate, He does not choose the cup.

picture15

The happiest people don’t have the best of everything.

picture16

They just make the best of everything that they have!!

picture17

  Live simply . . .

Love generously . . .

Care deeply . . .

Speak kindly . . .

picture181

 Leave the rest to God.

~ and remember ~

The richest person is not the one who has the most,

but the one who needs the least.

Enjoy your hot chocolate!!

This should probably be taped to your bathroom mirror where one could read it every day.

You may not realize it, but it’s 100% true.

LEMONS and SUGAR

  1. There are at least two people in this world that you would die for.
  2.  At least 15 people in this world love you in some way.
  3. The only reason anyone would ever hate you is because they want to be just like you.
  4. A smile from you can bring happiness to anyone, even if they don’t like you.
  5. Every night, SOMEONE thinks about you before they go to sleep.
  6. You mean the world to someone.
  7. You are special and unique.
  8. Someone that you don’t even know exists loves you.
  9. When you make the biggest mistake ever, something good comes from it.
  10. When you think the world has turned its back on you take another look…
  11. Always remember the compliments you received. Forget about the rude remarks.

And always remember….

When life hands you Lemons, ask for Sugar and call me!

·        Good friends are like stars.

o       You don’t always see them, but you know they are always there.

·        ‘Whenever God Closes One Door He Always Opens Another

o       Even Though Sometimes It’s Hell in the Hallway

·        I would rather have one rose and a kind word from a friend while I’m here

o       Than a whole truckload when I’m gone.

Send this to all your friends.

And don’t tell me you’re too busy for this…

Don’t you know the phrase ’stop and smell the flowers’? See how many ‘bouquets’ you end up with.

Happiness keeps you Sweet,

Trials keep you Strong,

Sorrows keep you Human,

Life keeps you Humble,

Success keeps you Glowing,

But Only God keeps you Going…

To God be ALL of the Glory

I received this amazing poem in an email, I was so blessed, I would like to share it with you all.

Please return the favor and share this with as many people as possible.

After the poem, you will see a link you can open and print it.

To God be the Glory…

FAMILY

I ran into a stranger as he passed by,

‘Oh excuse me please’ was my reply.

He said, ‘Please excuse me too;

I wasn’t watching for you.’

We were very polite, this stranger and I.

We went on our way and we said good-bye.

But at home a different story is told,

How we treat our loved ones, Young and old.

Later that day, cooking the evening meal,

My son stood beside me very still.

When I turned, I nearly knocked him down.

‘Move out of the way,’ I said with a frown.

He walked away, his little heart broken.

I didn’t realize how harshly I’d spoken.

While I lay awake in bed,

God’s still small voice came to me and said,

‘While dealing with a stranger, common courtesy you use,

But the family you love, you seem to abuse.

Go and look on the kitchen floor,

You’ll find some flowers there by the door.

Those are the flowers he brought for you.

He picked them himself: pink, yellow and blue.

He stood very quietly not to spoil the surprise,

You never saw the tears that filled his little eyes.’

By this time, I felt very small,

And now my tears began to fall.

I quietly went and knelt by his bed;

‘Wake up, little one, wake up,’ I said.

‘Are these the flowers you picked for me?’

He smiled, ‘I found ‘em, out by the tree.

I picked ‘em because they’re pretty like you.

I knew you’d like ‘em, especially the blue.’

I said, ‘Son, I’m very sorry for the way I acted today;

I shouldn’t have yelled at you that way.’

He said, ‘Oh, that’s okay.

I love you anyway.’

I said, ‘Son, I love you too,

And I do like the flowers, especially the blue.’

FAMILY

Are you aware that if we died tomorrow, the company that we are working for could easily replace us in a matter of days?  But the family we left behind will feel the loss for the rest of their lives.

And come to think of it, we pour ourselves more into work than into our own family, an unwise investment indeed, don’t you think?  So what is behind the story?

Do you know what the word FAMILY means?

FAMILY =

(F)ATHER

(A)ND

(M)OTHER

(I)

(L)OVE

(Y)OU

I forgot all about this movie and thank you Holy Spirit for reminding me.  There is no need for speakers, but yes they will make the experience even greater, not necessarily more impactful.

The impactis in the message of the movie…

There was a movie that was released in December a few years ago called “Most”.  It was also referred to as “The Bridge”.  At first I was not sure, the trailers showed the impact that was to be felt, but it was filmed in Czechoslovakia and had English subtitles.  I know what you are thinking, how could we possibly sit for the length of the movie and watch this movie.  Well, I did not go and see it.  I guess it was not in my time.

As we have learned, God is never late.  I have somehow found this movie’s trailers on YouTube and I would like to share 2 clips.  The 1st one is the actual 2 1/2 minute trailer I saw that touched my heart, but not my soul:

The next one is not only have subtitles in English, someone took the time to place some Spanish translations into the video, thank you Carlos wherever you are.  I probably would not have put a video on my blog that had the Spanish subtitles before, but since my Spirit has been changing so much lately, I feel convicted to share this video with as many people as possible, no matter what language they speak, to God be the Glory.  I hope you enjoy this 6 1/2 minute video of Most – The Bridge:

Please share this also with as many people as possible.

Please remember these scriptures after watching this video:

Matthew 7:14 (NIV)

But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.

John 3:16 (NIV)

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

To God be the Glory, Amen…

I want to share a story that was originally share by an amazing person.  I feel this story needs to be told to as many people as possible.

Please take the time to read this story and then share it with as many people as possible.

She jumped up as soon as she saw the surgeon come out of the operating room. She said: ‘How is my little boy? Is he going to be all right? When can I see him?’
The surgeon said, ‘I’m sorry. We did all we could, but your boy didn’t make it.’
Sally said, ‘Why do little children get cancer? Doesn’t God care any more? Where were you, God, when my son needed you?’
The surgeon asked, ‘Would you like some time alone with your son? One of the nurses will be out in a few minutes, before he’s transported to the university.’
Sally asked the nurse to stay with her while she said good bye to son. She ran her fingers lovingly through his thick red curly hair. ‘Would you like a lock of his hair?’ the nurse asked. Sally nodded yes. The nurse cut a lock of the boy’s hair, put it in a plastic bag and handed it to Sally.

The mother said, ‘It was Jimmy’s idea to donate his body to the University for Study. He said it might help somebody else. ‘I said no at first, but Jimmy said, ‘ Mom, I won’t be using it after I die. Maybe it will help some other little boy spend one more day with his Mom.’ She went on, ‘My Jimmy had a heart of gold. Always thinking of someone else. Always wanting to help others if he could.’

Sally walked out of Children’s Mercy Hospital for the last time, after spending most of the last six months there. She put the bag with Jimmy’s belongings on the seat beside her in the car.

The drive home was difficult. It was even harder to enter the empty house. She carried Jimmy’s belongings, and the plastic bag with the lock of his hair to her son’s room.

She started placing the model cars and other personal things back in his room exactly where he had always kept them. She lay down across his bed and, hugging his pillow, cried herself to sleep.

It was around midnight when Sally awoke. Lying beside her on the bed was a folded letter. The letter said:

‘Dear Mom,

I know you’re going to miss me; but don’t think that I will ever forget you, or stop loving you, just ’cause I’m not around to say ‘I Love You’. I will always love you, Mom, even more with each day. Someday we will see each other again. Until then, if you want to adopt a little boy so you won’t be so lonely, that’s okay with me. He can have my room and old stuff to play with. But, if you decide to get a girl instead, she probably wouldn’t like the same things us boys do. You’ll have to buy her dolls and stuff girls like, you know.

Don’t be sad thinking about me. This really is a neat place. Grandma and Grandpa met me as soon as I got here and showed me around some, but it will take a long time to see everything. The angels are so cool. I love to watch them fly. And, you know what? Jesus doesn’t look like any of his pictures. Yet, when I saw Him, I knew it was Him. Jesus himself took me to see GOD! And guess what, Mom? I got to sit on God’s knee and talk to Him, like I was somebody important. That’s when I told Him that I wanted to write you a letter, to tell you good bye and everything. But I already knew that wasn’t allowed. Well, you know what Mom? God handed me some paper and His own personal pen to write you this letter I think Gabriel is the name of the angel who is going to drop this letter off to you. God said for me t o give you the answer to one of the questions you asked Him ‘where was He when I needed him?’ ‘God said He was in the same place with me, as when His son Jesus was on the cross. He was right there, as He always is with all His children.

Oh, by the way, Mom, no one else can see what I’ve written except you. To everyone else this is just a blank piece of paper. Isn’t that cool? I have to give God His pen back now He needs it to write some more names in the Book of Life. Tonight I get to sit at the table with Jesus for supper. I’m sure the food will be great.

Oh, I almost forgot to tell you. I don’t hurt anymore the cancer is all gone… I’m glad because I couldn’t stand that pain anymore and God couldn’t stand to see me hurt so much, either. That’s when He sent The Angel of Mercy to come get me. The Angel said I was a Special Delivery! How about that?

Signed with Love from God, Jesus & Me.

Let’s see Satan stop this one. Within the hour, send a link to this web site or copy and paste this into your own email and send out to as many people as you can., you will have caused a multitude of believers to pray to God for each other. Then sit back and feel the Holy Spirit work in your life for doing what you know God loves ‘When you’re down to nothing, God is up to something.’
